How we guarantee authentic, locally made, fairly priced

Travelers ask us the same questions: Is this really locally made? Am I paying a tourist markup? Is the artisan actually being paid fairly? This page is the answer. These are the standards every Avendi Local vendor meets — before listing, and every month they remain on the platform.

The six Avendi Authentic standards

Verified local vendors (KYB)

Every vendor passes a Know Your Business check. We meet the maker in person, visit the workshop, and confirm the product is locally made. Resellers and mass-produced souvenir sellers don't make the cut.

No tourist markups

Travelers pay local prices — the same rate a resident would pay at the maker's workshop. Our platform commission is charged to vendors, not added on top of the artisan price.

Maker-first economics

Artisans receive the full local list price on every order. Avendi earns from a transparent vendor-side commission plus delivery fees — never by squeezing the maker.

Same-day hotel delivery

Orders placed before 5 PM arrive at your hotel the same day — typically within four hours. Orders after 5 PM arrive the next morning. All items are travel-packaged.

Buyer protection

Free returns and exchanges within the delivery city. If something goes wrong, write to support@avendi.me — we'll refund or replace it.

Ongoing audits

Active vendors are re-checked periodically. Drift from our local-made, fair-pricing, and quality standards means removal from the platform.

Our vendor vetting process, step by step

  1. Ask locals. We go to each launch city and ask residents which makers they actually buy from. Every vendor starts as a local recommendation, not a cold outreach.
  2. Visit in person. An Avendi team member meets the maker, tours the workshop, and reviews production. We confirm products are made locally — not imported or re-branded.
  3. KYB verification. We document business identity, ownership, licensing where applicable, and payment details. Vendors must pass Know Your Business checks before listing.
  4. Pricing alignment. We list products at the maker's local price — no tourist markup. The artisan receives the full listed price on each order.
  5. Quality & packaging review. Our team tests a sample of every product line, reviews travel-safe packaging, and confirms consistency.
  6. Ongoing audits. Active vendors are re-visited and re-checked on sourcing, pricing, and quality. Vendors that drift get off-boarded.

Travel-timed delivery, explained

Avendi Local is built around the travel calendar. We expect you to be checking out soon, boarding a flight tomorrow, or catching a train in the morning. So our delivery is designed to beat your departure:

  • Before 5 PM local time: same-day delivery, typically within four hours.
  • After 5 PM local time: first delivery the next morning.
  • Delivered directly to the hotel front desk or concierge — you do not need to be in the room.
  • Tracking link sent by email once the order is confirmed.
  • All items travel-packaged; fragile goods get extra protection.
