A handcrafted Okinawan sea salt inspired by the spiritual traditions of Kudaka Island.
On Kudaka Island, prayer remains an important part of everyday life. One traditional phrase spoken at the beginning of prayer is “Utōto Ganashī Nunmē” — an expression honoring the gods of the sun and moon. Inspired by these sacred figures, the salts were named “Tida nu Maasu” (Sun Salt) and “Tsuki nu Maasu” (Moon Salt).
For generations, the people of Kudaka Island have lived closely with the sea, relying on its blessings as a maritime culture. The seawater surrounding the island is deeply respected and traditionally referred to as usu — sacred seawater. The crystallized form of this seawater is known as maasu (salt).
“Tida nu Maasu” is characterized by its mellow, rounded flavor that gently enhances the taste of food, making it suitable for a wide variety of dishes.
