A mineral-rich Okinawan sea salt inspired by the spiritual traditions of Kudaka Island.
On Kudaka Island, prayers remain an important part of daily life. One traditional phrase spoken at the beginning of prayer is “Utōto Ganashī Nunmē” — an expression honoring the gods of the sun and moon. Inspired by these sacred figures, the salts were named “Tida nu Maasu” (Sun Salt) and “Tsuki nu Maasu” (Moon Salt).
For generations, the people of Kudaka Island have lived alongside the sea, relying on its blessings as a maritime culture. The seawater surrounding the island is treated with deep respect and is traditionally referred to as usu — sacred seawater. The crystallized form of this seawater is known as maasu (salt).
“Tsuki nu Maasu” is made by crystallizing sacred seawater from the waters surrounding Kudaka Island using sunlight. This version is crafted to preserve as many of the seawater’s naturally gentle mineral components as possible.
