A handcrafted summer hat carefully woven entirely by hand using leaves from the Okinawan coastal adan plant.

Adan leaves are valued for their balance of flexibility and natural structure, creating a lightweight and breathable hat with the refined texture unique to handweaving. Comfortable and airy, it is designed for effortless summer wear.

This traditional material carries deep roots in Okinawan hat-making culture and became internationally known in the 1910s under the name “Ryukyu Panama,” when woven adan hats were exported to Europe and the United States.

“HIZUSHI 4.0 Plus” features an elegant ribbon made from Kumejima Tsumugi, a nationally designated Important Intangible Cultural Property of Japan. Crafted using wider 4.0mm strips of adan leaf, the hat is finished in a distinctive stone-pattern weave reminiscent of mosaic tiles. While the weave appears simple at first glance, it is an exceptionally intricate and luxurious technique that allows the fabric to remain thin and lightweight for enhanced comfort.
